Can anyone offer any advice on where to start looking for a reason why my passenger side front seat heater suddenly stopped working. It just stopped heating and the light on the switch went out also. Drivers side is fine , and I assume there's just one fuse for both sides , any advice would be helpful. It's a 1992 Jag Sovereign 4.0 litre, straight six. Thanks.

I intalled aftermarket front Seat Heaters in my '84 XJ-6. The wiring is not very complicated. If the switch light does not come on, there's 4 possibilities: no power is getting to the switch, (as in a blown fuse), or a wire is disconnected, or a bad switch, or a bad switch bulb. I would start by checking all wire connections from under the seat to the switch, then to the power supply, (usually at the Fuse Box or at the Ignition Switch hot wire), until you come up with the reason. Aftermarket Seat Heaters have an inline fuse in the Hot wire from the switch to the power supply or fuse box, sort of a double safety margin. Testing the switch is as easy as removing the switch, getting a piece of Red-insulation wire (hot) and a Black-insulation wire (ground); Connect them correctly to the switch and test it directly from the battery. If the switch is good, the switch light should come on. If you are handy with a Ohmeter, test all connections with it to see where the power is lost. Change all fuses related to the seat Heaters, they might look fine and still be blown.
