my brother wants to buy a 1993 4.0L 6cyl it seem to have a problem with the head gasket what would it cost to replace the head gasket by a shop and what other problems could be associated with that issue that he should be thinking about he will pay 3500 for the car it has 115K miles on it

Bob it is one of the easiest head gaskets to replace--the exhaust and intake manifolds are just laid over and the head bolts preclude the dirty stud problem--you can get the flat rate from a dealer but if there is no valve issues it should not be that very expensive.
