At recent JCNA Concours a Lead Judge commented to an exhibitor-owner that "In general, a Judge should evaluate the car on the basis of what the designers intended - not on what came out the factory door." The comment was in reference to excess adhesive in the boot/spare tire area. Is this a
a proper overall standard for JCNA judging?

It would be extremely fascinating to know by what method this "Lead Judge" proposed to divine "what the designers intended". Seems to me this guy should be given the new title of Lead-Head Judge (the hyphenated words rhyming). Is it any wonder that the JCNA Concours has such a bad rep outside the clubs?
