RE: SI 3.8 EType vacuum advance
SI 3.8 engines untilize ported vacuum from the front SU for distributor vacuum advance.
Would there be any advantage to providing the 3.8 distributor full manifold vacuum for the advance instead of the ported vacuum?
Would full manifold vacuum be a bad thing for this engine's performance & efficiency?
I understand that for peak engine performance, driveability, idle cooling and efficiency in a street-driven car, you need vacuum advance, connected to full manifold vacuum.
Thanks for your experienced thoughts.

NO! ported advance is what you need. The object is to advance the spark in relation to engine speed. Full advance at idle is not necessary and would cause manyb problems. Jaguar affectionado and etc.
