I have a couple of unfortunate things going on with my 93 XJ6.

1. Fail code 89 [purge control sys prob]

2. Just yesterday, the fuel gauge dropped to empty [with a full tank] and the range in the trip computer shows zero and the low fuel warning light came on.

Does someone have similar experience or any particular suggestions for where I should start

thanks,
todd

Hello Todd
I need more data:
How many miles on the car?
Is the car exposed to road salt or sea salt?
Is it a daily driver or a show car that is in storage much of the year?
Did this start after any type of service?
What and when was the last garage service done?

Suggestion:
Have the alternator tested. Possible voltage flux.
Look for a bad ground point. The system is ground controled, a bad primary ground point will cause the computer to go crazy.

Have a great day.
