Tony - Having been there done that, IMO it's best to jack the car up using the picture frame (with wood between jack and frame to prevent damage). Two jack stands are ideal. You can then address the entire front suspension/steering rack etc using a jack to take off pressure as necessary. You also might want to support the wheel hubs after removing the shocks. As I remember I found it best to remove the rack first and replace last, which can be done with the radiator in place but is easier without the radiator there.
One BIG word of caution tho. Make sure you use the picture frame and NOT the Radiator support frame, which is not strong enough and will push the the radiator into the bonnet if jacked. Don't ask how I (almost) know that!!
