the trick is that the alternator is mounted backward on the V12 E-types which causes a problem with the cooling fins.

The original butec is twice as big / heavy and a pain in the neck because of the external regulator... I've had many issues and finally switched to a modern alternator.

it was supplied by the shop that has been working on my E for years, you can give them a call and order one. Jaguar Doctor in Boca Raton 561 362 7464, ask for Thierry. forgot tyhe price but much cheaper than a Butec or a rebuild
