Phil,
Just for grins, turn your ignition on, press the brake and shift to drive. Then FIRMLY push the shifter back to park. Now key off and try to start the engine.
I have run into instances where the switch on the transmission and the switch in the shifter don't "agree", and leave you with a crank-no-start. It is usually a fluke and never happens again, but sometimes requires either an adjustment or a switch replacement.
Easy enough to try.
