I am still having a Check Engine light problem with my 1996 XJ6.
Will the OBD-I or OBD-II error readers you can buy at the auto parts stores work on this car, or is it a dealer only item? The car runs fine but the Check Engine light keeps returning after being reset. The dealer I have been taking it to is at the "Dart Board" stage trying to solve the problem. I can throw darts just as well as they can for a lot less money.

you must live in portland. that's how they do it here. they either guess or guess. i have my owm obd2 reader, cheap model. it will only give you the codes that are generic, like for o2 sensors and the like. take it to a private shop and have it read and cleared if need be. most private shops have the diagnostic kit that covers all exotics with mabe 5 or 6 OBD plugs in it. don't take it to a jag dealer. ilove a jag that runs.
