This may be something built into the system of the vehicle but maybe not. I have a lovely 1987 Hess & Eisenhardt that I am just finishing stage one restoration(getting it running and road worthy) and I just put the battery in the car. I turned it on and heard the numerous relays clicking; I even tried turning the engine over (it did with no problem) but when I shut everything off all the dash warning lights stayed on and the fuel pump kept pumping as well. Any advice will be helpful. Could it be bad grounds somewhere?

It turned out to be a bad relay. Pulled the relay in the trunk, stuck a new one in and presto, no more problem. Everything works fine now.
