The current (March 2003) issue of Sports Car Market has a letter to the the "X-perts" from a David Spellberg (via e-mail) seeking guidance for making a decision on what color to paint the Series 1 E-Type roadster that he is restoring. He says that he learned from the JCNA website "that as long as the color combination was an available option the color is acceptable." The following parts of Gary Anderson's answer to this query are worth noting:

- "...you can use virtually any Jaguar paint and trim color on any model, whether or not the color or combination was listed in the brochures..."

- "...I'd recommend that you check with the current chairman of the Jaguar Concours program just to make sure."

If anyone would like to provide "official" comment on this matter, Mr. Spellberg could probably be reached via copyedatsportscarmarket.com . (Too bad the man didn't find his way to this Forum when he was looking at the website!)

Warren

Pascal,

Don't tell me; tell Mr. Spellberg! That's the only reason I started this thread, so he could get the right information. You know this kind of thing doesn't interest me at all. But I do hate to see someone who does want to do the right thing heading down the wrong path.

that's inacurate.... the concours rule book states that : "Colors must be reasonably close to production standards for year and model. "

in other words if Jaguar didn't offer a certain color that year, it doens't matter if it was available 3 years later...

then... "Non-production colors must be proved to have been originally factory applied to the Jaguar." so if a color was special ordered, you'd better have the heritage certificate showing that color...
