Greetings all,

I just purchased a 1968 e-type, coupe 2+2. The car seems to be in very, very good overall condition. The engine runs strong and starts readily. I drove 50 miles or so today and enjoyed every mile.

This said, the brakes are a bit soft and I'd like them completely done, new rotors/ pads. I'd also like a front end allignment done. Can anyone out there recommend a good, honest shop that has experience with the E, here in Southeastern MI? I live in the fair hamlet of Northville and the closer the better.

Also, the car has been at the Meadowbrook concourse 2 separate years and took 7 1st place awards at Jaguar concourse events. Should this mean the car is in overall good mechanical condition?

Finally, the car has no rust, and only has been driven, according to the seller, about 500 miles since the restoration. It appears to have no rust and I've gone through it well. What do you guys do to keep your cars without rust? Should I have some sort of rustproofing done?

Thanks for any help. I will be appreciated very much!

Hi Tim,
This is the other Bob S and I'm somewhat surprised that you didn't know that the Michigan jag club is based in your backyard. I'm sure that is our fault and something that we need to work on. One of the best Jag mechanics around will be at Wednesday's meeting so be sure to look up Matt Nold.
