The headliner on my '71 2+2 needs replacement. There is a removable fiberglass insert which comprises most of the roof, with about a 2-3" trim edge below where the insert rests. For some peculiar reason, I am thinking of trying to do the job, eventhough I'm not certain how to procede. It's not that I'm cheap: I just enjoy trying to do some things for myself on the car. Question: should the headliner be put in in two "pieces" (the completed fiberglass insert, then the trim covering the metal down to the roof edge?) OR one piece that covers side-to-side and front-to-back with the trim tucked between the fiberglass insert and the frame trim area? OR should I just have someone who is experienced do it?

check in the Tech library, i wrote somthing about 5 years ago after i did it. it was just a matter of pulling the old material, scrubbing the fiberglass, spraying the glue then applying the new headliner. not a lot of fun, but no big deal.

wear a cap though... you don't want glue in your hair!
