The dash lights in the 1990 XJS that I just acquired seem dim, is this normal? Or is it possible that some of the bulbs are burned out? Is there an easy way to tell?
Thank you,

Re.: Dim Dash Lights
You may not be aware that the dimmer switch is the large round control at the very left of the upper centre console. Jaguar affectionado and etc.

They'll never be very bright but a few easy changes can improve things....
Bypass the dimmer rheostat by simply disconnecting the wires and joining them together
Remove and disassemble the cluster. Replace all the bulbs with new, clean the lens, and add a redundant ground wire.

You can eplace the stock bulbs with LEDs. You can get them from

When I did mine, I used the green ones and removed the little plastic domes in the dash. Made a great deal of difference.
