I want to replace the pinion gear seal and output shaft seals on the differential from a 1985 XJS. The manuals I have only talk about removing the shafts, but it looks to me like on the input shaft (Pinion gear), I could just remove the nut and pull the flange with a gear puller, then remove the seal and replace it.
Similarly, the output shafts look like they are just pressed on to the output shafts, so i should just be able to pull them and replace the seals. The only issue could be pressing them back on could damage the bearings. Anyone have experience in this?
Oh ... I am doing this because I bought the 2.88 rear to go in my e-type with a 3.54 rear.
thanks in advance,
Bill
