Is there a good source for decoding a XK ID code? I heard of a 1949 Jaguar DHC that will be for sale and want to make sure the engine, body and chassis numbers all match. Not a big jaguar collector, but am considering the car.
Any help greatly appreciated.

The only "XK" sold in 1949 was the aluminum bodied XK120 roadster. The steel bodied XK120 "DHC" or Drop Head Coupe came later. Are you sure you are talking about an XK? Or are you referring to a Mark V Drop Head, which was an much larger, entirely different car?
