I purchased my 96 XJ6L jAUGUAR in 2002 and the only dissapointment has been the constant annoyance of the check engine light activating. The records from its birth into the world has shown this problem existing due to a knock sensor, which has been changed numerous times. Has any fellow owners encountered the same problem? My mechanic just checks to make sure nothing is wrong and deactivates the light, which will eventually activate again.

Could be your Catalytic converter. If you have 100K + I'd have it checked.
Maybe this should be posted under XJ's, not general discussion, to get more responses.
