Bernie It is pretty straight forward. My Haynes book says the highest point on the bottom of the float should be 0.65" + 0.02" from the face of the carb body with the carb inverted. Last time I did it like you I left the carbs on the car and just pulled off the bowl so you will just have to eye-ball it since it will not be inverted. Mine worked ok just snapping it into the clip and making sure it can go up and down with no resistance. Hope this helps
