Californian Smog and Registration

Hello,

IÔÇÖm interesting in purchasing a late model XJS coupe, but would like to know if the California model of the same was state specific.

I ask because although I live in Californian I have seen some cars out of state that look promising. However, I donÔÇÖt want to purchase something that I cannot register here or smog when the time comes.

I apologize if this question has been asked previously, but I did do a quick forum search and couldnÔÇÖt seem to find anything on the subject.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, including if its worth trying to retrofit the necessary parts if the cars are different.
