Hi folks,
'95 XJS convertible 4.0
My brake lights are out, all 3 of 'em. It's pretty weird.
The running lights are on the same bulb and they work fine so the ground is not a problem.
I swapped one bulb even though there was no apparent problem with the bulb. Not the problem.
I checked the brake light switch at the pedal and continuity was good on the switch with pedal operation. Not the problem.
I checked the fuse on the passenger firewall and it appeared ok but I swapped it with a spare anyway. Not the problem.
Does anyone have any sage words of wisdom before I start tracing wires?
Thanks,
-Jim

Brake Lights
Moments ago, I dumped a lens unit full of water out that was killing my directional signals on the same car. Check all the bulbs and sockets and contacts for moisture/corrosion/shorting, including that third light bump on the trunk lid. If that doesn't lead to something, hook up your voltmeter and make sure voltage is getting to the circuit at the back when you push the pedal.

Weird but true, the brake lights are ignition switched. Doh.
