Hello all -
Working on a 61 Series 1 3.8 E Type, confirmed and removed leaking vacuum boost bellows, and about to install new bellows procured from XKs. Here are my questions:
1. The shop manual shows stiffener rings (3) in the bellows convolutes. The leaking one did not have them, leading (I think) to the bellows collapsing and creating the leaks. The new one I'm about to install doesn't have rings either; should I make some?
2. While installing the new bellows, should I use any sealant? Silicone, windshield sealer, Permatex #2? Or keep it dry?
Any input is greatly appreciated!
