Great idea, with one problem-o.

I wouldn't vote for this unless it's reworded to eliminate the "husband and wife" membership definition as stated in the "Reason" section of the proposal. Besides being wrong on it's face, such a marital requirement was abused in the past.

Art, Sorry about that !! Ginger is correct that the three *** 's (or . . . 's ) simply mean that the intervening or missing words are unchanged from that as originally written, but have been omitted for brevity (rather than include the whole remaining sentence -which is unchanged ). Perhaps I should have used "etc".

(As much snow as we have had this year -I can see that you might think they are snow-flakes.)

Art,
Looks to me like Jerry was using those symbols as an "etc." ... not a fancy secretarial snowflake. I'm sure the revision will be correctly typed in simple enough English for all members, even those in the frozen NW. ;-> Howdy!

Someone once said," keep it simple smarty ". So please use only letters in the alphabet, as not all of us have secretarial training. Surely simple English is more understandable than three symbols that look like snow flakes...Hello.

Ginger,
You make a good point.
However, the explainatory second paragraph of ARTICLE II. MEMBERSHIP; Section I. Member: further states that : - "For purposes of JCNA Membership, the term "Member" is defined to include the primary member and his or her spouse or significant other living in the same household, and children***age."
It would be very simple to modify the previous paragraph containing the "politically incorrect" statement of defining "Family Memberships" as consisting of "Husband & wife" to simply stating that : "Family Memberships (as defined by JCNA - below) shall be listed jointly and shall collectively *** of one Member."

There is a bit of inconsistancy in the by-laws that were not noticed. In one section it refers to spose or significant other and in another section, husband and wife. The amendment for Article III refers to the number of people needed to start a club. The wording should have been changed but it is now to late to add an agenda item or change it. I do think when it is on the floor, it could be opened up for discussion from the delegates and modified. Look at it and propose it from the floor when it is brought up. We will have a parliamentarian to keep an eye on us so we don't mess up.
