Went to this forum tonight and saw duplicate messages. Are the electrons acting up or has my browser finally pooped out on me?

Specifically, http://www.jcna.com/cgi-bin/forum/jcna.pl?read=1008 showed up three times in the index. I like Ginger's posts, but only need to see each one in one place.

yes I do... One of the reason why I take the cars to FTL for service, and why I bought the XKR from them, is the fact that they do support our club.

I'd recommend Jaguar Doctor in Boca, 561 362 7464. they do the work on my E-type but are familiar with moderns too. they're pretty busy so not sure if they can help, but they're good and reasonable. you'd have toget the car to them

Pascal,

You made a comment regarding driving 30 miles to a dealer for service, when you have one only 4 miles away... I'm planning to visit the Palm Beach/Fort Lauderdale area in the next week or so to check out several XKR coupes for sale there. Is there a dealer or independent mechanic you could recommend for a thorough pre-purchase inspection on an XKR (or XK8)?

Thanks!

another case of the dealer not doing what it takes to make things right.

I would not believe that Jaguar ( or any manufacturer ) would let a car out with a rattle.... BS ! sounds more like a PArking brake adjustment problem, something has to be loose, I'd get it fixed before soomthing happens...

FWIW, service quality vareies greatly from dealer to dealer. Here in south FL I drive 30 miles to a dealer when I have another one just 4 miles away...

I had a rattle developing on the XKR over a few months, dull rattle, only heard over certain type of surface at low speed windows down. It took the dealer a few days to find it,it turned out to be a loose bafle inside a rear mufler... Replaced under warranty, no question asked...

I have a noise problem with my 1998 XKR. At first, I thought that the rear license plate frame was rattling; so, I placed velcro strips around it and affixed the frame to the back of the boot lid. The frame was not, however, the problem.

I had one of the service writers from Star Jaguar of Thousand Oaks, CA test drive the car. He said that the noise came from the parking brakes rattling. Jaguar, he said, believed that no one would ever drive the car with its windows down - the only time that the noise is when the noise is audible - so, Jag decided not to address the problem.

Try to drive your over a bumpy surface (any in LA county will do, the roads here suck) in order to induce the noise. Then slowly and softly apply the hand brake. The noise should abate.

Cheers!

I've got a rattle sound that seems to be coming from my right-side rear-end when I hit bumps. It is especially pronounced at lower, parking lot speeds. It just sounds like something simple. I've checked everything I'm capable of checking, and everything seems tight (it's not loose tools in the trunk, mufflers are tight, emergency break cables, rims, etc.) Very baffling!

I'll have my mechanic check it out next week, but I thought someone might have experienced a similar problem.

Thanks!
