Perhaps this belongs in the general forum, or in a detailing forum, but I suspect other e-type folks think the same.

Chrome I'm happy to buff and polish...but there are 2 pieces of aluminum that I want to CLEAN without an abrasive polish. I have a series II so I'd like to clean the aluminum plate that holds my tail-lights. There is a machined horizontal streak to the whole piece that I don't want to scratch. Also, my steering wheel - I don't believe it left the factory with a high polish.

Suggestions?

And FYI re Chrome, an older gentleman patiently polishing the chrome on his hot-rod (on consignment at gateway classic cars in St. Louis) recommended that I use Old No. 7 chrome polish. I gave it a try and am very happy. I've not compared it to other products but I liked his opinion that it was gentle so you had to work a lot to get it where you wanted it but didn't have to worry about over doing it. Pic attached
