Another option for AL *cleaning* is "Ouater" (sp?? Pronounced "water"). It sort of feels like fiberglass insulation, but doesn't leave shards of glass in your hands. It's also hard to find. I saw it in a catalog once, bought some for a guy (Ferrari detailer) who told me about it and had given me a small piece of it, and haven't seen it since. Should have bought more.....
