I have a 1994 XJS Convertible 2+2 with a problem A/C. When I turn the A/C to the off position the compressor engages and it appears that a flap on the vents appears to move. This lasts for about 1 second and shuts off for about 5 seconds. The cycle continues until the ignition is turned off. The A/C works fine at all speeds otherwise. I spoke to George and he thinks it is the controller. Does anyone have any other opinions?
Thanks,
Steve

Actually, Jaguar figured out that on the convertibles that people were not running the air conditioning with the top down. Anyway, the fuel is cooled by the low side of the A/C and if it is not turned on, then the low side does not get cold, the fuel gets hot and you start to get running problems along with vapor lock. They changed the wiring so that the compressor would come on if the fuel got warm whether the A/C was turned on or not. As most cars were convertibles, the wiring for the coupes is probably the same. Might check the wiring and see if they differentiate between the coupes and convertibles on the A/C circuits.

Steve sending anyone to the JL archives is a study in futility--there will be so many answers (mostly guesses) that one would have to know the correct answer to sus through them.
