Just to clarify, the Super V8, as a trim line for the X308 sedan was first introduced for the 2002 model year.
The Super V8 Portfolio, was a special edition limited production model for the 2006 model year. That one was available only in Black Cherry and Winter Gold.

I'm having trouble substantiating the R1 option.......some of Jaguar's websites are down at the moment.

Cheers,

John, I don't know if this applied to the 98 model year, but for the last year of the body, 2003 there was an R1 option for XJRs. It consisted of "Milan" wheels, not sure if 18 in or 19 in, and Brembo cross drilled brakes. I don't think this option was available on Super V8s, but the dealer or owner could have fairly easily added them. Check to see if your brake rooters are drilled, and threre are probably photos of the wheels somewhere on this site or on line. There have five spokes and hex nuts around the rim.

John we (JCNA) have the book Jaguar produced on that car. Have never heard of it refered to as an XJR-1 but the Super V8 is accurate. To make sure we are talking about the same car it was offered only in two colors==metalic black cherry and Winter Gold. The full name of the model was the SuperV8 portfolio. Is this the car you are asking about? If so you may call the JCNA tech line to discuss it. 888-258-2524 ex#3.
