does anyone have a source for the equalizing valve in the brake system?
we changed it about 2 yrs ago. symptom was the rt front caliper doesn't retract, rotor overheats.

changed the caliper then (I still have a brand new one, which came from the jaguar dealer, always a day late and a dollar short)

I understand the valve is no longer available from jaguar. are there any rebuilders, or, can I purchase a kit, or scrounge up seals, etc that will fit. I don't mind buying hones, etc if necessary

(just needs the .pdf at the end)

That's far simpler than I imagined.

Since the system will need to be bled once this is done you may as well replace the flexible hoses as well while you're doing this. I would not have thought to inspect for collapsed linings on the flexible hoses but it's a really good call.

At the age these cars are getting to unusual wear like that starts to become a regular headache and the only real mitigation is to keep up with replacement of rubber parts.

Does anyone have a good o-ring assortment they know of that covers the common ones for these cars? My most recent o-ring dilemma was the fuel injector o-rings. Oddly enough I found a kit with the correct parts at a generic parts store (Autozone? Advance? dunno. One of those had it in stock in the store hilariously enough.)

wow, you make me feel guilty. much more response than I expected. thanks, all.
I had to work today, and won't get near the car til sunday.
and if I tell the truth I don't even know what the valve looks like. when I say "we" changed it, I mean I wrote a check.

i am normally much more hands on, but I stayed away from this repair, at least for the first round.
it was a year or so ago, and I have only put about 500 miles on the car since then, although I start It every week. perhaps the infrequent use contributes to the problem coming back? I could make a point of at least putting 20 miles a week on the jag

Steven is probably correct but, many people just opened the valve removed the pistons/internals then put it back together. It was initially an American modification and so it is most likely is available in Carquest etc..

That bulletin and part number is for the entire valve block, not just the "O" rings. And frankly, I don't think that is Andy's problem; though that is still a possibility. The valve block failure usually manifests with a brake pull, sometimes violent, or a completely inoperative brake at one wheel.

I'm actually more inclined to think he may have a collapsed flexible brake hose to that wheel. The interior of the hose collapses and acts like a valve. Pressure goes in, but can't get back out. That leaves you with a brake that is stuck on.

I would start with the hoses, it may fix it. Even if it doesn't, at this age, I'd be recommending they be changed anyway. That's very cheap insurance.

Good luck!

If that's the item in question, it's the ABS 'Valve Block'. The attached bulletin decribed a repair kit (JLM11337) which, I think, is basically a set of new o-rings

Personally, I would buy the $35 used valve off ebay and then dismantle the one that doesn't work and see if I could figure out how to rebuild it. The link I posted earlier shows the internal construction so figuring out how to do that is probably doable.

I went home and took at look at mine and I see exactly what you mean. It's an odd beast hanging off the master cylinder with the 3 fitting plumbed through some sort of adapter plate. I can't get a part number or other OEM markings off of it without dismounting it. Please post detailed pictures of the part you've got taken off so we can see about either a rebuild kit or other applications that utilize this unit. It's nothing like the '94 proportioning valves I've seen pictures of.

I don't quite understand what you're after.

I found an 'equalizing valve' listed (click the link below, item #2 in the picture). Is this the part you are referring to? If so, I Googled the part number and got a few hits. Maybe someone out there still has one?

Wow, I've never heard of it. Cool.
Can you post a picture?
In my recollection by the time '95 rolled around Ford had made some good efforts to leverage common parts. Seems like there's a good chance it was used in other brake systems and finding a compatible part might be as easy as identifying an application from the 90's and driving by any old parts store.
