How would I find out how many US versions of the 94 XJS 6.0 were made? I read somewhere there were only 109. That doesn't sound quite right. thanks

"Nice chart - who owns the one of kind 1992 6.0 two plus two?

What makes you think it is a one of a kind car? Those figures represent production year, not model year. I seriously doubt it is one of a kind. That's a facelift convertible with a back seat. Even while the factory was producing this version, it was also offering the front-seat-only model if customers wanted, and that is so indicated in the chart.

As far as total 1994 coupes made the graph lists the figures as 242 for the worldwide market - how many of those ended up in North America - only Jaguar USA knows that answer and they don't post that info anywhere -
Sorry don't have those figures for you -
My info comes from several different XJS owners books and history guides on the marques as well as lots of researching on:
The Jag / Daimler Heritage trust in the UK provided me with the graph - there web site is useless for research - but if you email them they'll do the leg work for you and send you the info you need.

Re.: 94 XJS 6.0
Thanks for the wonderful responses. Lots of great XJS info. I must admit however, even though overwhelmed with info, I couldn't deduct the number of 94 XJS 6.0 coupes that were US models. Although, I'm not even sure if that statistic has ever been deciphered. Again, thanks for the great info. I learned a lot about a great car.

James,
outstanding work for an outstanding car, the final figures show that Jaguar could not stop building this beauty of a car. In some of my readings I heard that Aston Martin had a hand in the design of the car and made all the initial bodies. The rear buttresses to me appear a bit on the Aston style and probaply are one of the body strengths of the structure. With the addition of the HE motor in all but the seventies cars, the mileage is not that bad esp on the highways, with todays technology I am sure 30 MPG would be possible as is with the latest Corvettes.............as you say a great car, and as Mike Cook stated in the September / October Jaguar Journal "Hold up your heads,XJS owners....... your time is now".Thank you Michael.............
The XJS was driven to the top of the cake by such swesome people as Bob Tullius of Group 44 fame, a very ............well afetr meeting him
twiice and visiting him at his hanger with many of his planes and exJaguar / Group 44 race cars, he has to be my hero, developing the V12 first in the Ser 3 E Type and then continuing with the XJS,the Mighty V12 Jaguar 680 pounds of steel and alluminium and steel, and in race trim as much in foot pounds of torque........ Sir William told them to design it and then build it. Continuing on Tom Walkinshaw showed Europe that Jaguar and their Mighty V12 were the team they had to beat, they failed and the V12 took the European Sportscar Championship just one year (1984)afetr "Silver" was put together in Coventry in 1983. The list goes on , just as the torque of the V12 rushing you along basically as fast as you dare to go
(apart from Bonneville possibly).
To anyone interested actually there is a vintage TWR Video Clip showing Tom himself competing for the pole position in Australia, I think at Panorama Ridge/ Mountain. Pretty neat clip. I will try and find the link and post it up here.....

I don't have any transmission info but I found some more data related to import numbers and production figures:
There were no V12 designated models available as 1996's sold here in the US.
There are three different opinions below...
For 1995, Jaguar USA gives the following as the US
sales:
V12 Coupe: 91
V12 Convertible: 362
4.0 Coupe: 364
4.0 Convertible: 3,758
Under ''Restyled bodywork'' (i.e. ''Facelift''):
1991 to 1993 5.3-litre Coupe: 1,199
1991 to 1994 5.3-litre Convertible: 3,674
a total of 4,873
The following is additional production numbers for the rest of the
engine versions:
1993 to 1996 6.0-litre Coupe: 772
1993 to 1996 6.0-litre Convertible: 73
1995 to 1996 6.0-litre Convertible ''Celebration'': 76
XJR-S:
1990 to 1993 6.0-litre JaguarSport (incl 50 Conv. for USA only): 682
Does not specify if any of these XJR-S was a ''restyled'' version.
Total V12 production 1975 to 1996: 83,721
_______________________________________________________
4.0-litre engine production:
1991 to 1994 4.0-litre AJ6 engine:
Coupe: 4,754
Convertible: 6,112
1995 to 1996 4.0-litre AJ16 engine:
Coupe: 3,022
Convertible: 7,814
Total 4.0-litre engine production, 1991 to 1996: 21,702
Total 3.6-litre engine production, 1987 to 1991: 9,990
Total Jaguar XJS production, 1975 to 1996: 115,413 awesome cars!!
Last September in Browns Lane, Coventry I got a pamphlet about XJSs with
slightly different numbers
(so definitely this shouldn't be "an opinion", you can't get more "official"
than this) :
6.0 V12 convertible grand total of 81
- - 11 in 1992
- - 31 in 1993
- - 28 in 1994
- - 11 in 1995
However, in this pamphlet it's also indicated a grand total production for
all XJSs of 115,330 when
there is a well known picture of the last car produced published on many
books, (P60 XJS, the 6.0 coup?¿ owned by the JDHT) with a tag on the roof reading Total cars built
115,413. Mmmm...the plot thickens.......

For future rarity value and likely appreciation I'd go for a 1995 model 6.0l V12 - I've got one and I love it !
