The only XJS I have driven is my own and it is unpredictable in its handling which I cannot believe was the original design behavior. This is a convertable, no rust, no accidents, 92 K miles, new Pirellis, new front suspension mounts, rear mounts look intact, engine mounts look intact. This car will understeer initially but if I turn back again it will want to "quickly" move to an oversteer condition. I know this is a heavy front end, BUT, this feels unsafe.
Any suggestions? shocks are original and perhaps tired, ball joints appear fine, car tracks straight and does not pull upon braking...

'89 XJS proper handling?
Have you checked your steering rack bushings?
Cheers

Rack bushings!! XJS just isn't a safe driver when they split.
