Have any of you tried the conversion to the 6 weber carbs on a series 3. If you have what were the consequences on the performance and reliability? Were there any difficulties with the conversion?

6 Weber carbs conversion
I bought a 71 v12 ots--1S20005--the fifth lhd ots made and it had 6 webers on it. It sure uncluttered the engine compartment and looks great. When tuned, the performance is fantastic. In my opinion, this is the way all xkes should have run. Silky smooth v-12 with much more hp. Of course, you can watch the gas guage move when you put your foot into it!

6 Weber carbs conversion
it's an option but most specialist agree that they are uch harder to setup and maintain. converting to SU improves performance without sacrificing reliability... of course you don't get as much power as with webers but it's a good compromise. havent' done it yet but i will when i get the engine rebuilt in mine.

I may be wrong, but I think that Jim Roberge's '73 Ser. III OTS has the 6 Webers on it as well. As with my comment about the exhaust system, I'd contact Stew Jones and speak to him about it. I'm sure he can tell you about doing it and what his experience has been.
