Notice to all Slalom Stewards and slalom participants:
The 2003 Revised Slalom Rules are now posted, including the new listing of classes available on the Slalom Page. A number of changes have been made to classes, including the introduction of the Street Prepared Lightweight and Heavyweight classes. Anyone with a modified car should familiarize him/herself with the new rules to determine whether you must run in Modified class or can run in the new Street Prepared class.
Also, the Entry Form has been revised to reflect the new classes, and several additional changes have been made as well. DO NOT USE OLDER VERSIONS OF THE ENTRY FORM -- YOU MUST USE THE NEW FORM.
Along with the new entry form is a Questionnaire to be filled out for any car that has been modified in any manner that effects performance or handling. The purpose of this form is two-fold. First, it will assist the Slalom Steward in determining whether the car belongs in Street Prepared or Modified class. Second, it will assist the Slalom Committee in collecting information to use in developing a points system for modifications for use in future years. AFTER EACH SLALOM, STEWARDS ARE REQUESTED TO MAIL COPIES OF THE QUESTIONNAIRES TO ME AT THE ADDRESS SHOWN ON THE FORM.
We are also in the process of developing a Tech Inspection checklist form to be used at club slaloms. Please watch the Slalom page for posting of this new form.
Thank you all for your anticipated cooperation, and lets go out there and have some fun!!

Re.: 2003 Slalom Rules and Forms Now Posted
12 years experience in JCNA Slalom Competition, my quest, fairness in competition for all members.
Steve, sure we can go out and have some fun, although the heavyweight mod. class having being lumped with the lightweights, the possibility of a National Trophy is distinctly skewed in favour of the lighter vehicles. What if anything is the Slalom Committee going to do about this.
Art,
As you know, the proposal to combine the light and heavyweight modified did not come from me. I agree with you that they should be separate. But this should be done as part of a comprehensive review of the rule to fix some of the problems that have seemed to crop up since the last round of changes were made at the last AGM. Any input or suggestions you have would be more than welcome.
There is a lengthy thread on the slalom forum on this, but so far, no concrete proposals for changes. Just a lot of discussion. If you or any other member has a suggested change, please post it with a suggestion for specific language for the rules, and an explanation of why the change is needed, what problem it fixes, and how the rule will be applied.
Thanks and look forward to hearing more from you as we move forward.
