Re: 1997 Jaguar XJ6

If you have had the following experience or a similar experience, please
respond. I have been to a number of jaguar mechanics who cannot seem to
figure out what my car's problem is.

While driving at speeds above 55 mph or higher, when I apply the brakes and the car slows down to about 50 miles per hour (foot off the
accelerator), the engine surges and falters (hesitates) repeatedly until
the speed reduces to under 50 miles per hour. Under 50 mph, the surging
and faltering stops.

Also, sometimes the engine surges to around the 20 mark on the tachometer,
while my foot is completely off the accelerator and firmly on the brake
pedal. The car will move forward if I release the brake pedal. When I
turn off the ignition and start the car again, the problem corrects itself, and it runs like a top.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! Rick
