Charles you have broken the stop mount in the door. It is a common problem and there is a repair kit offered by one of our vendors--Coventry West. You will need to remove the door panel and remove the door check to see if the check itself broke or the door skin gave away. In the cases I have seen it is the door skin that gives away which changes the angle of the action. This leads to the arm itself breaking.
