New member to the club, purchased my first Jag 6 months ago, I now own 4. I'm infected I admit it. Question; I purchased last Friday 1 of 19 XJ12L produced in '96. Jaguar Archives unable to indicate how many of these made it to North America. How does one come by this information? This Jag is as close to showroom as 47,000 miles will allow. How do I find out the true value of this limited production rocket. The 11 hour drive home was far toooo short. What a ride!!!

Update, Jaguar produced 249 XJ12's in 1996. About 180-ish were shipped to North America. Most are in the USA.

Hard to establish value. Frankly the ones I've seen advertised seems terribly underpriced relative to the "amount of automobile" you'd be getting. I've seen them advertised anywhere from about $8k-$15k but never saw any in person to asses the true condition. As with most used Jags, a really premium example is worth a premium price.

When I was shopping for a newer Jag earlier this year I was looking for an X300 V12 or a X300 XJR. It just so happens the "right" XJR came along first.

Nope Jaguar Archives: 1-800-452-4827 gets you to Jaguar Cars, press 9 and you get Customer Relations Center, press 1 if you know your party's extension (we do) now you can go 2 ways extension 8144 gets you to Jaguar Archives, only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, forget leaving a message any other time they do not return your calls. 2nd option the one I prefer is open all week and that's extension 2196, this gets you Angie and if she does not know answer to your query she will find out.

So I had her again confirm that my XJ12L was one of the last 19 for 1996 and the serial number is a match. Mfg date on door indicates 11/95.

Thanks for the info on the above numbers very interesting to see how many there are of the variuos models, 100 Damiler Century in '96 hmmmm.

Any idea's who I should talk to on getting a value on this beast? I will contact the heritage trust to see if they can shed more light on this models surviving relatives.

One source on Jag-lovers, quoting Nigel Thorley, gave these numbers for the model year 95-96-97 V12 Saloons, for what they're worth.

Short Wheelbase:
XJ12 (564) Sovereign (673) Daimler (1007)

Long Wheelbase:
XJ12 (535) Sovereign (56) Daimler (1230)

Daimler Century (whatever that is) (100)

Using my fingers and toes I think that adds up to 4159.

I am under the impression that there were no LWB cars for the 1995 model year, but don't take mine as the final word.

This doesn't answer your question but I thought you might find it interesting.

Can't answer your question, sorry. I'll do some looking.

One thing to bear in mind, though, in case you didn't know, is that Jaguar production numbers are expressed in terms of calendar year, not model year. So, although 19 were built in '96, the 1996 model year began in 1995....so there are probably more than just 19 1996s out there.

But no matter how you cut it, your is a rare and desirable Jag :-)

Jaguar Archives? do you mean the Jaguar_Daimler_Heritage_Trust? if anybody knows, they do, though I think they will only provide info about your car, not the other 18, but you could ask that they help put you in touch with the others.
