Hey Guy's how's it going? My 1973 XKE Jaguar has been giving me a problem
with the brakes. While I was driving one day the brakes locked up. I was
driving for about 1/2 hr. in town but it was hot weather. The engine was not hot. It lasted for about 2 or 3 seconds felt like the brakes were on.
It happed two different times to me (2 seperate days) someone suggested it
might be the master cylinder, any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Joe from E. Rutherford

Joe,
I had the same problem with my Mk2 except more severe and it turned out to be a bad air valve on the brake booster. What happened was that where the two sides of the daiphram are supposed to be in balance with equal vacuum when brakes not applied, there was an air leak which let air bleed into one side which caused the vacuum on the other side to apply the brakes. After it stood for five minutes I could proceed but it would happen again. Like Ian I am sure it is the booster.

I'm willing to bet it's the booster. I had the same problem on an Alfa. There was a kink in the vacuum line, so the booster would go on, but was reluctant to release. Check your lines.
