I've owned 1994 XJS convertible with 4.0 for six months. Well, she owns me, being a Jag.
The spare alloy wheel is badly cracked on the inside. It's a CBC 2469, silver diamond spoke lattice 15 inch wheel. All four road wheels are in very good condition. I've done web searches to find a replacement, even asked my tire shop for a steel wheel. Turns out they don't have one that fits over the hub.
There's an alloy repair shop in OKC. The guy says he can weld, grind and refinish to make it like new.
Opinions?
Suggestions?

Thanks

He sounded very qualified. He came recommened by our local JCNA editor. luckily I've found a replacement so I guess I'll have a spare in need of repair.

As for repairing, I wouldn't hesitate...if the repairman is a specialist.

Alloy wheel repair has become very common...welding, straightening, refinishing, etc. The results are generally very good. I've had a couple of my XJR wheel repaired over the years. In my neck o'the wood there are several shops specializing in this work...and even a mobile service!

Cheers

Tom ,
You have a 7" wheel, I have a 6.5. Bolt pattern is the same.
Is it off an XJ? I'm just wondering if hub size and offset match.
Thanks for reply.
I sure would like to have a matching alloy, just don't want to pay $130 or more.

Hey Bill, I have a CBC4688 silver wheel. Not the same as yours, but the same size. 7Jx15x35. $10.00 + shipping from Orlando Fl. 32810. Better than a steel wheel for a spare. I wouldn't bother welding the one you have. I'm surprised someone doesn't have one laying around.
Can send pictures if interested.
Cheers Tom

Probably the commonest wheel and cheap as chips. I didn't think it was rare or expensive in the US though? It might pay to get it crack-tested before welding, to see how bad the damage is. And will your welder guarantee the wheel runs true? No point having a sound wheel with run-out.
