E-types : 1968 FHC - Ebay surprise.

E-types : 1968 FHC - Ebay surprise.

SURPRISE FOR CAROL - AN E-TYPE FROM E-BAY

John and Carol Edelstein appeared at the San Diego Concours d'Elegance with a pristine 1968 Series 1 1/2 Silver Blue Coupe. Nothing unusual about that. There were about one hundred other Jaguars at the same Concours.

The unsual part of the story is that the E was a present John bought on E-Bay for Carol's upcoming birthday, their wedding anniversary and the next few Christmas holidays. Carol always wanted an E-Type in this specific color and John bought this car sight unseen from a Jaguar Club member in New Hampshire. The story could have been better only if the car were in Siberia. John was bidding in $500 increments and his only competition in the bidding was going at it in $100 shots. Near the end of the bidding John was ready with 3 bidding windows. Although the reserve was not met during the bidding a final price was reached and Carol would be VERY surprised.

On August 7th the car was delivered to John's San Diego garage and positioned so Carol could not pull into her usual space. Wrapped in a red bow and ribbon was THE E-TYPE FROM E-BAY. John and Carol's car made the trip on an automobile hauler along wtih actor Nicholas Cage's Porche. One wonders if Lisa Marie likes E-Types too ? By the way, Carol's Jag won second place in the Driver's Class for Series II XKE's[D3].
