Guide to JCNA Club Rallying & Program Rules
Chapter 6 - Rally Equipment
For the crew:
Take plenty of pencils, scratch paper and a clipboard.
Use a timepiece that you can trust and easily read.
For night rallies you will need a map light and a hand held spotlight for reading signs or locating landmarks.
Have a tool to help you figure time, speed and distance, such as a slide rule, a rally indicator like the Stevens or Blackwell, a pocket calculator, and/or a set of TSD
rally tables.
Carry an unbreakable thermos of coffee, tea, or the non-alcoholic beverage of your choice. A small first aid kit and motion sickness pills can be good insurance.
Make last minute comfort stops; it will not be convenient to stop along the route. For the car:
Your rally car should be serviced at regular intervals. Check out your car before the event: make sure oil and water are topped up.
Begin every rally with a full tank of gas.
Check the condition of your spare tire and jack and be certain that you have emergency road flares and any tools that you would normally carry.
Take a fire extinguisher, replacement fuses, and a spare fan belt. A pair of jumper cables might be useful.
